Re: Gibbs as the GM in 3 years?!?
Gregg Williams is definitely being groomed as our next head coach (which thrills me to death because I love the guy). But it's clear Gibbs is trying to structure the team in order to foster continuity. He knows that Bugel, Burns, and Breaux will be leaving when Gibbs retires. That would certainly explain why we have so many cooks in the kitchen right now, because Gibbs is trying to stock the cupboard so that when he leaves, the offensive coaching cupboard isn't left bare.
When you have SO many quality coaches, you're bound to see some of them leave for head coaching jobs. But that's why you have both Blache and Williams. And it's why you have a Bill Musgrave. If you lose one of those top guys, hopefully you have people on hand that can keep steering the ship in the right direction.
I don't mean to say Musgrave would be an automatic replacement for Saunders if he flies the coop. But he has been an offensive coordinator before, he has had some time to learn from Gibbs and absorb the offense, and he would be a logical choice.
Or we could just hire even more coaches!
