There are many coaches, most of them in fact, that serve as the head coach, and leave coordinator duties to someone else. Jimmy Johnson did the same thing in Dallas -- Dave Wannstedt with defense, and Norv with offense. I think this is going to ease the burden on Gibbs, allow him to assume more 'motivational' duties on the sidelines, and he'll make the call on fourth down, punting, and so on.
