I'm not sure where you guys are getting some of this stuff, but the charges have been brought by the DA, not by the individuals involved in the incident. Any settlement with the alleged victims can only settle the victims' potential civil claims against ST. Such settlement would have absolutely no effect on the criminal case. The DA will still be able to proceed and will subpoena the testimony of the victims for trial. At that time, the victims must testify or face obstruction of justice and/or contempt charges. Furthermore, if any of their testimony differs from the statements they have already given, they run the risk of being convicted for perjury. Money may get ST a good lawyer, but he can't buy the testimony of the witnesses/victims.

Furthermore, if convicted of what he has been charged with, he is going to jail for a mandatory minimum of 3 years for each count. That's not discretionary regardless of his status as a superstar NFL player. The judge wouldn't be able to sentence him to less than 3 years for each count even if he wanted to.
