I am not sure that Davis would be making everyone hapy round here. In Carolina he is being exposed a litte as a good power back with good stamina in games but not exceptional. He can wear defences out simply by playing longer but he always wears down at the season end. I would not be supprised if DeShawn Foster is the Panters best runner this year...
The other thing you have to rember about the Davis contract, it was a mistake to pay him so much so soon meaning he would have to restructure or be cut down the line but it was in around the same time as 2000/1 spending spree which saw alot of money spent and wasted.
Personally I think even if Davis was here he would push the likes of Betts to be better and may be on the way to being replaced by Betts as he because he did show some promise in 2002 but I guess we will never know
