An argument could be made that as great as he was, couldn't he have been even better if he had shown up for voluntaries? It's all conjecture, but certainly you wouldn't argue that ST had a great year
because he skipped voluntaries. So it's really anyone's guess as to whether or not he was hurt by not being there.
