Re: Draft Observations and Predictions from Day 1: Place your own here
1. The Philadelphia Eagles continue to catch every break in the draft. I refused to admit up until this point that the 31 other front offices are so inferior in collective intellect to them, but today was a pretty convincing arguement. It's really too bad they built their franchise around a loser, as talented as he may be.
2. The Denver Broncos manipulated no short of 6 teams to pull off a great draft. They abused us, San Francisco, Atlanta, the Jets, Green Bay and St. Louis to turn the 25th overall pick in 2005 and the 29th overall in 2006 into Javon Walker and Jay Cutler.
3. The Arizona Cardinals manipulated absolutely no one, and came out with the best draft. Leinart and Lutui are impressive, but getting the 2nd best TE in the draft in the middle of the 3rd round (in a TE heavy draft) is downright robbery. Which brings me to my next point...
4. Jerry Angelo is a complete dumbass. The trade down put the Bears in great position to come out big, and they ended up taking the 5th best available corner in Manning, a guy who plays neither offense nor defense in Hester, and a reach at a non need position on Dvoracek.
5. The Rams quietly had a great draft.
6. I nailed my Fasano at 53 pick, and couldn't have been more surprised about the selection. More interestingly, Dallas aquires a pick held by Washington.
7. The Raiders need to stop taking DBs. Period. Over the past six years, they have taken Derrick Gibson, Phillip Buchanon, Nnamdi Asomugha, Fabian Washington, and Michael Huff in the first, Stanford Routt in the 2nd, and Schwiegert in the 3rd. Gibson, Buchanon, and Asomugha will never be anything, and Routt will never be more than a nickelback. They won't improve until they address somewhere else. They did get Thomas Howard to save face.
8. How many times can you screw up if you are Buffalo. They got some decent players, but at what cost? The 2nd round? Youboty saved face, but given 4 picks in the top 74, they should come away with more than Youboty, Whitner, and McCargo. They didn't touch the offensive side. Well, I'm not keeping Willis McGahee in fantasy, thats for sure.
9. Ryan Cook was the worst pick.
10. Manny Lawson was the best pick.
