Re: Question 3 Idol....Warpath, You Decide!

"Lord help me, I'm just not that bright." So I have no idea how I'm going to compete in this round. And I have concerns because "Trying is the first step towards failure." But if I've learned one thing from Homer Simpson, it's to never give up or refuse to do something simply because I don't like it, because "if you don't like your job you don't strike, you just go in every day and do it really half-assed. That's the american way!" So here goes:

For me, Question 3 has always been difficult to really wrap my head around. In some ways, I feel like Homer when he struggled to understand the meaning of "VIP":
Homer: "Miss, what does the I stand for?"
Guide: "Important."
Homer: "Ewwwwww. How about the V?"
Guide: (Slightly bothered) "Very."
Homer: "Ohhh. Miss just one more questio......"
Guide: (Annoyed) "Person"
Homer: "Ahhhhh. What does the I stand for again?"

In fact, there are times I thought maybe Question 3 was never really a question that was meant to have an answer. Maybe it's like the following exchange:
Mother Simpson: [singing] "How many roads must a man walk down / Before you can call him a man... "
Homer: "Seven."
Lisa: "No, dad, it's a rhetorical question."
Homer: "OK, eight."
Lisa: "Dad, do you even know what "rhetorical" means?"
Homer: "Do I know what "rhetorical" means?"

So perhaps the confusion that is Question 3 really lies with those of us foolish enough to try to answer it.

In any event, through all the confusion I have come to find love and appreciation for Question 3. Question 3 filled a void for me. "There's an empty spot I've always had inside me. I tried to fill it with family, religion, community service. But those were all dead ends. I think [Question 3] is the answer."

It was tough at first, since I couldn't even be sure Question 3 was stated in proper English, but so what. "English! Who needs that? I'm never going to England." So after I was able to set Question 3's imperfections aside, I just remembered what Homer said -- "Well, you know boys, a nuclear reactor is a lot like a woman. You just have to read the manual and press the right button." -- and applied it to Question 3. And it helps that Question 3 could accept me for who I was: "Ah, sweet pity: where would my love life have been without it?" It's been pure bliss between Question 3 and me ever since.

Now if you'll excuse me "I'm going to the back seat of my car with the [Question] I love, and I won't be back for ten minutes!"
