I'd say it's hard to hang in the pocket for your 3rd and 4th option when those options are the likes of Taylor Jacobs and Jimmy Farris.

We didn't have any depth at WR last year, it was Moss and then Cooley as the main options. This year there will be no excuses. If Brunell is still throwing it away after looking at just his first two reads I'll buy this notion that he's scared to take a hit. Until then, my take is he was doing what he was asked to do and was limited by the lack of depth at WR.

The problem is with that argument is there are comments from others on this board who attended the games [daseal] who have stated that Jacobs was getting open but Brunell would never look his way, and for all the Patten fans out there they were all wondering what was wrong with him before he went down because he wasen't producing as he was in New England, and that includes Patten himself, funny how a 3 time SB champ and a big play reciver for those teams was doing nothing other than a decoy for Moss. There was a reason Patten was voicing his disapointment before he was injured, you can't step up and become a second option reciever if the QB doesn't look your way, it's Moss then check down to the short route in Cooley, Brunell not only wants to get rid of the ball immediatly so he wont be hit, he doesn't have the arm to legitimatly get the ball downfield, once the reciever gets a certain distance he has to put to much air under the ball which allows to much recovery time for the defense.

But Saunders might be the biggest plus for Brunell, he uses timing Patterns in which the QB will throw to a spot before the reciever reveals his break which is very difficult to defend and if Brunell is smart enough this offense will allow him to get rid of the ball quicker. But he will still have to hang in the pocket for the second and third options is he willing to do that at this stage of his career?

A reciever can not alway's be blamed for lack of production, team concept, and a legitamate QB are also a major factor, Moss is case and point, living here in jersey I follwed his career and when we traded for him I said the jets didn't know what they had because Pennington couldn't reach the guy with that rag arm of his, did anyone see Moss having the kind of season he had for us? I know the Jets didn't.
