Irvin put up his numbers over a shorter time span, and he has the rings, which definitely count for something. So I don't mean to discount Irvin altogether. Irvin is definitely in my top 15 (so is Monk). If stats told the whole tale, I'd be ranking Carter and Brown as 2nd and 3rd all time, but like Irvin, they come from an era in which passing was all the rage. It's just that Irvin, Carter, and Brown all came from the same era. They were all great, but the numbers put Carter and Brown just a bit ahead of Irvin for me.

You said that you don't base your ranking just on stats but at the end you say that numbers is what pushed Carter and brown ahead of Irvin. Also as you said Irvin acomplished those numbers in less time that's pretty impresive whats even more impressive is that he did it in a run offense, not a passing 1 like Minnesota and Oakland/LA.
He changed they way CB's had to play the game and also how they had to be built like Moss also has in this time for me that's a top WR and I'm not saying this because I'm a Cowboy, it's just based on what the athlete brought to the game.
Like I've said Green should and will be a first baloot HOF he is 1 of the best CB's ever to play the game and it's defenetly in my top 10 All time.
