If true, this would greatly improve the defense, in particular the pass rush. I liked Armstead but he no longer has the tools to be a premiere weakside LB. The WLB should be one of the team leaders in tackles and sacks. The WLB is frequently left unblocked at the line of scrimage and covers the runningback on pass plays. When the WLB blitzes on pass plays, he is usually blocked by a RB or FB. Lavar will run over most RB's or FB's and register many sacks next year. I have wanted the skins to make Lavar a WLB since they drafted him.
The strong side LB usually does the dirty work against the tightend and usually gets little glory. We can find a good SLB for cheap in free agency or draft.
While Armstead had decent numbers stats wise, he does not have the speed and game breaking ability that Lavar Arrington will bring to the WLB position.
