Highway robbery. But you make a good point. When Lemar's contract is up, he will likely want to land a big money deal somewhere. He will be in the 31-32 range, and will have no choice but to take the best offer he can get regardless of team loyalty, because it will be his last chance at a big payday. With the obvious '08 cap problem looming (although another CBA extention before the 2008 season is not out of the question, it runs through 2011, but either side can choose to nullify it after the 2008 season), we simply won't have the luxury to resign players. Enter the current draft, and the emphasis on getting LBs late.
My guess is Havner earns the MLB job in 2008. He has to work to make the team, but I'm certain he will thrive in the system.
