If Utley breaks it but winds up with a career .263 BA then what does that record reflect. If Utley breaks the record then I'll think that's cool, but that achievment will do more by bringing down the significance of the record than it will raising his hitting legacy.

Utley has progressively gotten better each year he's been in the majors. It looks like he's going to be a good, if not great, player for a long time.
