Besides learning a new system on offense, with a new coordinator and a number of new players, the Redskins have had an unreasonable if understandable expectation of great things happening this season. I think people's heads got a little inflated and these games are something of a reality check.
Tiger Woods is like the Redskins I think however - he was willing to start over a number of times in his career on new approaches to his golf swing, and it cost him success in the short run. People thought everyone had caught up to him. And for awhile they did, because Woods was willing to take a step backwards so he could ultimately take two steps forward. And you see the result recently for him.
Gibbs and the staff was willing to switch to having Al Saunders come in and take over the coordination of the offense. We are in fact taking a step back, but it is all with an eye on taking two steps or more forward.
