Actually not exactly.
Police reports are ultimately public only after a case has been closed the report has been tempered. This happens often in cases exactly like this where incorrect or untrue pieces of the case could cause embarassment and such.
The official released police report in this case had the sections regarding depression and suicide blacked out and the closing reason for the file was "accidental overdose".
This helps police departments avoid getting sued like I imagine they could in this case. They'win but it would cost a lot of money so it is better to be cautious as they ultimately were.
