I think it is an awesome idea and that is coming from someone who hates our penchant for big name, aged vet signings. He is smart enough to learn the D and still has some gas in the tank (judgeing from last years stats) and we did lose a safety for the year.
If we can get him without overpaying we should bring him in and give him a few weeks to learn the playbook which will allow us to get a look at Doughty and to see if the secondary improves with the return of Springs. If it does, at the worst we end up with a seasoned backup. Ask yourself what happens if we have an injury to another safety?
