It's easy to look back now, but one has to wonder what might have been if:
Brunell was never brought to Washinton in the first place, going through 2004 with Patrick Ramsey to give him a second season to mature, and/or giving the reins to Jason Campbell this season if Ramsey didn't pan out.
Too often, this franchise has been focused on "win now, no matter what the costs". But we've seen that it's such huge gamble that way -- strangling the cap, losing draft picks, mortgaging the future... Sometimes players need a season or two to work the kinks out.
Now I'll brace myself for the inevitable tirades for bringing up the Ramsey-Brunell debate.

Point 1. IMO, Brunell was put into starting QB position last year because Joe Bibbs thought that CP would do most of the hard work and MB would be there to more manage the game and NOT fuck it up more than anything else. Just pound the ball to death. But, Brunell did A LOT last year i think. He made a lot of good throws, lots of sharp and accurate ones over the middle and he got the ball into the playmakers hands. I think Joe wanted BETTER than what he did last year. When he realized that last year was probably Brunell's way of saying Goodbye to the NFL, he knew it was JC's time.....
Point 2. WOW.....what a diff scenario THAT would be...if it had worked out like that, maybe no playoffs last year but we were beast this year...lol
