They'll cut him July 1, otherwise the cap hit goes up by a million dollars.

If AA were playing at all on D, then I would agree that another year would be warranted to see if he's going to work out. However, the coaches don't have the confidence to play him even sparingly on D - what would they be waiting to see if they kept him?
