In the middle of the season, we tried playing Fauria more in that role. Problem was that he couldn't block, and would often hold. Consequently, Brunell got injured.

So the moral of the story is that we DO need somebody to fill the role of a blocking TE for us. I would advocate either a move for a talented player like a Daniel Graham (which isn't going to happen) or a cheaper blocker such as a Reggie Kelly, a Jason Dunn, or a late round draft pick (Or both a vet AND a late round draft pick). But don't kid yourself, if you watched Fauria last year, you know that this is a hole on this team.

Yoder can have a roster spot, but he was the band aid for the Fauria issue, not the solution to the problem.
Good post. We don't need another Cooley clone, we need a road-grader for power-running downs.

Football is a situational game. There are situations when having two pass catching TEs does you very little good. You need a TE on the roster that can line up and just mash an LB or even a DE in a run blocking situation.

Our goalline offense still isn't where I'd like it to be. If you're truly smashmouth, you line up when everyone and their grandmother knows you're going to run, and you run it anyway. And if you're truly smashmouth, you make the yardage. We need a bulldozer at TE.
