Re: Another starting LG on the market

This should get done. Guards can play well into their 30s and be effectvie for the most part. He is a better in line runblocker than Dock which is saying something and sounds no worse on pass blocking. We'll miss Dock's athleticism on the longer pulls but that was a new found aspect of his game just last year. Thomas can still pull and Betts and Portis are quality enough to not necessitate a total road paving on the outside from a pulling guard.

Ed and a decent blocking TE is actually a functional upgrade over Dock I would say. If not a long term solution. I'd totaly be in favor of this deal and maybe waiting a round or two longer to pull the trigger on a guard of the future. We actually need to start stock piling linemen. Our line is getting old. In 3 years they'll be ancient. It'd be nice to have some fresh meat ready to take over.

Caveat:how is his injury? I gotta wonder with all the money being thrown at guards his cap num didn't look so bad. I know they have a capable replacement but simply for depth he could have been solid for them. Wonder if there are any unknowns at this point.
