Well here's the deal in a nutshell. Many around here (DC), Joe Gibbs included, felt that Smoot shouldn't have gotten away to begin with. In fact, Gibbs prefaced his presser with the fact that it was mistake on both sides to let Smoot go to Minni.

I think for the dollar amount he signed for, the fact he wanted to come back to the Redskins, he's 27 years old....I can go on and on really. No, it wasn't a splashy deal, but it was very solid, sensible signing for the Skins.

If Smoot stays healthy, I think it could prove to be the best off season move this year.
