Re: Are we adressing our D-line?
I haven't seen extensive film on Okoye but I know I don't like Alan Branch. He is a bust waiting to happen, plays high, low motor, doesn't play behind the line of scrimage. I watched him during the Rose Bowl and was very disappointed dispite the fact that the commentators talked him up the whole game. I think Okoye is the best bet at DT and #8 is probably as far as the Skins can drop and be pretty well assured of taking him as the Dolphins might be interested in him at #9. If the Skins traded with the Texans the difference in value between picks 6 and 8 is 200 points. That would get the Skins the Texans 3rd round pick (#73 overall, valued at 225 points). A good trade to drop and get the guy you really want plus an a high third.
I think Okoye is the guy the should be targeting. I'm not high on Gaines Adams as he is small and a very similar body type to Andre Carter. Not stout against the run and I'm not convinced he will be a dynamic pass rusher in the mould of a Dwight Freeny. I haven't seen anything from Anderson, but I do know that Mike Mayock does not like him much. From what I've seen of Adam Carriker he looks good, but tends to play too high. You could probably correct that pretty easily with coaching and so I think he would probably be my second choice behind Okoye. Both would be there at #8. If the Skins do want an elite DE/DT they probably wouldn't want to go too much further down so this might be preferable to the trade that was discussed with Denver a couple of weeks ago.
