a good GM that's allowed to hire and control his side of things would NOT be a bad idea. they've done okay with the high round picks, but the 2nd day and FA stuff has been dreadful overall. (and yes, 2004 was a great FA period, but after 2006, they're batting .500, and that's absolutely TERRIBLE when you're talking about huge contracts and a limited salary cap).
