just pretend you dont know how.... hardly anyone knows I'm a licensed electrician... I always overhear people needing crap done to their house... and I refer them out just to avoid the whole "how much do I charge freinds/acquaintances" thing...

BUT if its too late for that and they know you can do it for them, whatever it is.... and they refuse a freebie you need to overcharge like hell. She's purposely putting you on the spot and offering to pay so that she "doesn't take advantage of people" when that's exactly what she's doing, so make her pay!

Tell her you'll do it for 1200 bucks or so and maker her stop you...
