Then all of a sudden he grew a little and his arm got stronger and voila the kid was probably the best QB in the nation over his final two seasons combined. I think that horrible first season stuck in some minds and probably devalued him a lot.
Also the long term success of UVa QBs isn't that good.

Most college QBs see a production spike between their 2nd and 3rd seasons. Your chronicle of Schaub's college career seems very prototypical.
