Excellent point.
It shouldn't have needed to be made though. Specualtion that we'd trade up based on the actions we have actually taken this offseason to trade down is pretty rediculous.
They say that all the picks in the first three rounds provide similar returns upon the value of the pick. That is to say that the team picking 32 is no worse off from a monetary standpoint as the team picking 1.
So if we can trade down and get more picks, great. Getting our guy is the most important thing though.
