At the final Washington Redskins team meeting of the spring on Sunday, Joe Gibbs told his players they would have "39 short days" of vacation before the start of training camp.
"We need to come back," Gibbs said, "and straighten this thing out."
While reasons for optimism emerged from this weekend's minicamp, the Hall of Fame coach is the first to admit there will be plenty of question marks when the players return for the beginning of full-pads workouts on July 27. The more serious tone to the offseason is a reflection of last year's 5-11 record, Gibbs' worst as a head coach.
