I looked up his stats because I got bored. He (Carlos Rogers) had 16 passes defensed with 1 INT last season.
To put it into perspective; Champ Bailey averages 12 passes defensed and almost 5 INT's a year. That's because the past two years he got 8 and 10 intercecptions which really boosted his average.
Deangelo Hall defensed 12 passes last season with 4 INT's. (PRO BOWL)
Rhonde Barber 13 with 3 (PRO BOWL)
Walt Harris 12 with 8 (PRO BOWL)
Lito Shepard 13 with 6 (PRO BOWL)
Just so that you know, an intercecption counts as a defensed pass. So had Carlos Rogers caught 5 more of the balls that he defensed; then he would have had 16 defensed passes with 6 INT's.
So you are right if Carlos catches a few more of them he will have Champ like numbers. But his passes defensed alone proves that he is already a good CB, he is just not great yet. In other words a solid number 1, but not a game breaker.
I am not saying that he is as elite as Champ is now, but given a few more years he just might be. I think that he will break out this season.
