Costco, Sam's Club, Crutchfield, TigerDirect.com - 4 great places to look for TVs.
Sharp LC-42D62U 42" 1920x1080p 6ms 1200:1 Contrast Ratio HDMI ATSC LCD HDTV at TigerDirect.com - not bad for a 1080p.
Just be careful with TigerDirect, as they do sell a lot of Refurbs. Refurbs aren't necessarily bad (just means it was a return that was fixed to factory specs), but it can be hit or miss with them.
Vizio has been getting a lot of mixed reviews...but they did develop a line for Wal-Mart that is doing well. My Dad has a 20 inch LCD that is been very good to him.
As far as LGs, I've seen some in action, and the picture has been great. Just dont know anything about their reliability.
One more point - if you are going to always be using a cable box or directv box, look into a HD Monitor. They may be a great screen for cheaper because they is no built-in tuner.
