Here's the problem: while I'm sick of hearing about That Certain Former Player I did (for example) want to watch the game last night for other reasons. It would have been really hard for me to have changed the channel and actually get to see how Carson Palmer looked. I supposed I could have muted the TV and put on some music or something but whenever I do that I lose interest in the game quickly, which is ironic because having to hear Mort talk about That Certain Former Player for 12 minutes straight also makes me lose interest in the game.

Now, as for here on TheWarpath, I completely agree with you and I've been in this argument before. I will NEVER understand why some people feel the need to post things like "this thread is stupid" or "why is this thread still going on." Just ignore it if you don't like it.
The beauty of a site like this is that you basically have the freedom to pick and choose the content that you see. If there is something that you want to talk about odds are that you can find someone to discuss the topic with. At the same time, if you're when watching a game on TV you rarely have that freedom.
