That's the way the entire NFL works, not just the Redskins. This is a business - if someone is establishing a track record of injuries and poor performance, they are going to be cut and someone else will be brought in.
I would agree with CP - if he doesn't get back to his former self this season, he probably will get traded. Everyone is expendable, no doubt about it.
How long is a team obligated to hang on to someone who can't cut it anymore? I'm certainly not saying CP is washed up, I fully expect him to have a huge year. But why do so many fans have some expectation that we'll hang on to people and pay them millions of dollars as long as they want to work here? Players are here to perform at a multi-million dollar salary level and win games. If it's not being done, get them out and bring in people who can.
I swear people thing that football teams are a big family business where people should be able to work happily in peace until they die or retire. It ain't that nice of a world, folks.
