Re: SI: NFL 2007 Preview
In the window that discusses Randle El.... I can't agree with their analysis of Antwaan's deep threat ability. First, he is another example of how we overpay for talent. I am normally a big supporter of utilizing Danny Boyz' deep pockets. But he really disappointed me.
Is Antwaan a deep threat? He is exceptional at turning nothing into something. IE: Screens, quick outs-ins. Things that get the ball in his hands, allowing him to stretch those short plays into longer ones.
Brandon and Santana are our deep threats.
Randle El doesnt have the permanent sticky on his hands that Santana, Cooley, and Lloyd have. Not that he cant catch the ball, but he doesnt necessarily go up and get it. Which is a characteristic of a succesfull deep threat receiver. Anyone else reading him the same way?
