Taylor trusts Landry to be a huge presence in the box so that he can contain the deep threat the way he did in college (tons of interceptions). I think Taylor's philosophy for SS is to punish guys so bad they don't want to go across the middle, and when we didn't have one who could do that Taylor had to play in the box way too much.
I'm just saying Landry was the very best pick to improve our D as a unit IMO.
This is possible, but even this year, I've still watched plenty of receivers get behind Taylor in the secondary. The guy just takes bad angles and is easy to beat deep.

Landry is doing what is expected of him in his rookie year, and it IS allowing Taylor to contribute in other ways he couldn't last year. But at some point, someone is going to have to fix the gaping hole in deep pass coverage. Eventually teams are going to figure out that you can't hit the holes in the Redskins zone defense because Taylor is too aggressive and that the way to beat us is to be patient, and throw it deep late.

Not that Okoye could have done much about this, but the pressure up the middle he would have provided could have been invaluable. In any case, Landry will do his job for us for a long time and we will probably remain relatively strong on defense for a long time.
