Re: Us Against the world
I agree that this is a much better match up than a lot people think. I'm not saying anything that hasn't been said before, but our D is the best the Pats have faced this season and matches up well with them; with everyone under the sun marking this down as an easy win for the Pats, even they might be tempted to look past us at Indy; our offense has been just one click off from firing up - if this ends up being the week when receivers start hanging onto balls, everyone might just be in for a shock; and - as someone else pointed out - Joe Gibbs is a cagey coach - we can't rule out the possibility that he's been holding parts of the game plan back just for this game. Going up against "number one" brings out the desire to win like nothing else, especially for competitive people like Gibbs.
So, does this mean an easy win for us? No, of course not. New England probably is the top team in the NFL this season, so it will be a challenge to win. It will also require a few things going our way, like having our receivers finally hang onto balls, getting a turnover from the Pats, eliminating our turnovers, an emotional high for us, and possibly a little let down for the Pats. If we get those breaks, I think we will win. If we don't, I still think it'll be a lot closer than people think. Even if we don't get the breaks we need and lose, I think our D will actually show the rest of the league how you beat the Pats and will have every defense coordinator facing New England snuggled down to watch our game film.
