Re: Its time for joe to step down.
To ask for Gibbs to step down midseason is about as ignorant of a suggestion as I can think of. That being said, we're clearly a poorly coached team. I know SmootSmack always reverts back to blaming the players for miscues - dumb penalties, drops, etc. But when it happens week after week, and we blow games repeatedly, that's a symptom of the coaching staff. No question.
We couldn't come up with a play call to get us a TD when we had 7 chances inside the 10 yard line. We carve them up all day and then we totally stall? Gibbs HAS TO BE taking over playcalling inside the red zone. We waste a timeout early in the 3rd on 4th & 1 only to kick a FG anyway? That timeout could have challenged McCardell's catch late (ruled incomplete) in the 4th. The list goes on.
The overall lack of fire in all aspects, the rapidly collapsing defense, the lack of fundamentals and inability to close- that comes down to coaching. I don't give a shit if we sing koombaya in the locker room and if we "fight our guts out." I want to win. We've been griping about allowing big plays, dumb penalties, bad play calling, poor clock management, and bad offense since the 1st game of Gibbs' return.
Bottom line, Joe Gibbs part 2 isn't working. It's just not. We're 3 1/2 years in and have all the same problems we've had since he took over. Nothing is getting better (except our QB). Remember folks, aside from that 5 game run in '05, we've been lower tier team his entire second tenure. You can never go home again.
IMO this year's Redskins team is on the low end of average.
