I would say Randy Thomas, Samuels, Jansen, and definitely Mike Sellers are also "true Redskins."
As far as Portis' success equating to the passing game, well sure. If a team is forced to respect the pass, it's gonna draw that 8th and maybe even 7th man out of the box and make running easier.
I think Portis' recent success has to do with 3 main factors:
1) He's finally healthy and in game shape after missing basically the entire offseason, a lot of camp, and the whole preseason.
2) The O-line is finally gelling after all the early injuries
3) The passing game is getting on track.
