Williams runs a very good defensive scheme, but it's overly dependent on exceptional talent. Yes Sean Taylor is a freak, but if Williams is truly a "fantastic" coach, the defense shouldn't fall apart because he's injured. I'm sure a lot of coordinators could put together a solid defense with freaks at every position.

I maintain that blitzing Brady in any form would have been a disaster. The score would have been even worse than it was. He's the most poised QB in the face of pressure in the entire league. He'd just sit back there and throw it over your blitzing LBs.
Face it, the Pats were just really really on that day. Nothing anybody could have done.
