This guy is a gem. Say what you will about Gibbs' coaching record this time around, but if he delivers us the franchise QB that we haven't had in decades, everyone should be kissing Gibbs' ass.
This is a QB-centric league and it is extremely difficult to be a great team without a great quarterback. There are teams like the Ravens and the Bucs that have historically had success without solid QBs under center, but they are the exception to the rule. It should come as no surprise that we've had trouble fielding a great team in the past decade or so given that we have been relying on guys like Tony Banks and Shane Matthews to lead our offenses. If JC turns out to be the kind of QB we have all been looking for, this franchise is set up for a good run and many self-proclaimed experts will attribute our success to better coaching, better moves by the front office, better play by the players at skill positions, etc. when in reality our success will come down to having a guy under center who can make plays.
