It's just really hard for a small guy to get open when the field is shortened to 20 yards deep or so. The burner's biggest asset is speed, but that asset is negated when there isn't enough space to use it. At some point, size and leaping ability need to come into play, it helps the WR shield the defender from the ball with his body.
There's a big reason our WRs have so few TDs this year.
