Re: What is a Fan / Homer / Realist
I think anyone who is passionate about a team is a fan. What's funny to me is that I've been called a hater, a kool aid drinker, a realist, and an eternal optimist. Sometimes all in one day.
I do think that some changes must be made, but not wholesale. We are 1-1 in blowouts and 4-5 in games decided by 8 or less. 2-1 in games decided by 3 or less. Parity is ruling the NFL now (save for the Patriots who might have to play the X-Men to lose). A team under .500 might win the AFC West. The 5-6 Vikings destroyed the 7-4 Giants and last week the Jets beat the Steelers. This team won't be 19-0 anytime soon.
Will the Giants win another game this year? How about the Lions? I think the Cards (who lost to the 49ers) have a better shot than the Giants.
When the mathameticians tell me that there is no shot I look to next year. As George Micheal sang, "You gotta have faith." As far as the complaining goes, I'll take a "we suck" over any negative comment from someone else. By brother can call my mom fat but nobody else can, regardless of the truth.
So what does this make me? Yes, I am still hoping for the playoffs. If they make it I will be cheering wildly though I personally feel that we'll be seeing another Packer vs Patriot SuperBowl. Am I a Kool Aid drinker because I recognize the chance to make the playoffs still? Or a "realist" because I think this season is pointless and we should just crown the Patriots ass?
