Similar thoughts crossed my mind, but who the hell knows. His lawyer has said several things some of which seem to conflict (he was hit in the hallway, they kicked in the door, etc.). I don't think we'll know much of what happened until/or if the financee speaks (or, God willing, Taylor revives). From all current reports it seems like a targeted thing and likely an attempted murder. If it was about insurance money or something (which is I guess what you were getting at by pointing out that the financee emerged unscathed) I'd have to believe that it would not make much financial sense for her to have Sean either dead or critically injured. If I had to guess, with the limited information available, I'd say it had something to do with the ATV incident of a couple of years ago. I'd guess it was some of those individuals looking to settle a perceived score. Unlike Michael Wilbon, though, I would not conclude that Taylor "embraced the violent lifestyle," I'd say a bad decision and some bad associations came back to haunt him even after he had worked so hard to break from that past (and from all I can tell, isolated) incident. Obviously it's just pure speculation on my part and I have no idea what happened, but from the initial reports that seems logical to me. Likely I'm wrong and the police will hopefully find the perpetrator(s), but that's my guess if I had to speculate. I just wish Sean had just left Miami behind and moved his g/f and daughter up to Ashburn...which isn't to say it couldn't happen in DC, but if it was those same individuals from a few years ago then it was specific to Miami.
