Well, he signed a 7 year $43M deal that included a signing bonus of $8.6M.
His base deal doesn't really start to get out of control until 2006 and 2007 when his base will be over $5M and $6M respectively. If we cut him his signing bonus is all going to come due, approx $1.23M per year.
His deal is basically a 3-4 year deal, so unless he retires at some point we're probably going to eat about $4-5M from his bonus. We've eaten worse deals.
It's not really a bad deal cap wise, but he could be an expensive backup if things play out that way.
