I disagree... If I could adopt my own policy I would make it more difficult and pricey to purchase a firearm. I would make it federally mandated to have all firearms registered in all neccessary jurisdictions. I would put into place a prerequisite for criminal history, mental health, qualifying (with each weapon) and training in order to own a firearm, but take away the restrictions on what kind. Banning pistol grips on assault rifles, certain types of bullets, and limiting magazine sizes doesn't really do anything.

Then, I'd put in place a MANDATORY minimum 5 year sentance on ANY gun related charge. Everyone who gets caught with a gun that doesn't check out goes to the can, but those allowed to carry them, can carry them anywhere. Federal buildings, schools, airplanes, etc...
