Good point about Javon Walker & Wes Welker. The Pats straight up stole Randy Moss. They also traded Deion Branch to the Seahawks a couple of seasons ago for a first rounder. So I think that Randy Moss deal was more of an anomaly than a precedent.
All that being said and a weak WR draft class, I think Roy Williams for a #2 would be a decent deal. Maybe, Chad Johnson on the trading block as well will lessen their values in a trade. Amazing that two elite receivers are on the trade market. How can the Danny resist?
Also, would a Limas Sweed, Adarius Bowman or a Mario Manningham be a better acquisition than Roy Williams? We'd be lucky if one of those guys is still around when our #2 selection comes up. If upgrading the WR position is a priority, I'd rather do it with this trade.
