I don't see the logic in saying something like that. Of course people would be pissed; they were pissed when Joe Gibbs had a 4 game losing streak, and they'll damn sure be pissed when anyone else has one. But how much more pissed will people be IF it's Fassel losing those games instead of Williams?
On the other hand IF Gregg Williams or whoever else is the coach goes undefeated the fans will be happy.
The point is, you could say "if this..." and "if that..." all day long and you'll always sound right.
The fact is right now, when Snyder and Vinny are close to making one of this team's most important decisions in years, the support is firmly in Gregg Williams' corner. It sounds like all the players, the vast majority of the fans, the analysts, many if not all of the current assistant coaches, and even many former players (Gary Clark was very supportive of Williams on Comcast this morning) feel that this team was finally headed in the right direction and that to completely change course now would be a very big mistake. So is it worth it for Snyder to say "No, F you all; this is my choice and I'm going with whoever I want"? Of course it's his decision to make and since he owns the team he can do whatever he wants, but does that make him right, right now?
Back to my point about what you said would happen if the team starts out 0-4 (hey, didn't Gibbs start out his first year 0-5?): Yes, we'd be mad, but none of us know how it will play out once the new season starts. If we did the game wouldn't be half as fun to watch. But I look at it like folding bad cards at the beginning of a hand of Texas hold'em. If the guy ahead of me goes all in, I fold a 2-7, and the flop comes out 2-2-2, I'd still say I made the right decision at the time. I'd be mad at my crappy luck but hopefully I'd be smart enough to realize that I can't see into the future.
And I just wasted about 20 minutes of my morning.
