the difference between barber and martin is that both of those guys have qb's playing fairly well (warner and pennington). i think once our passing game opens up, it may relieve some stress for portis to run so much. i am kind of worried that his body won't be able to take this amount of punishment, both this season and for the long term (look what happened to eddie george).
otoh, didn't he say he wanted the ball until his tongue hangs out?
