Especially coming from a team with huge QB issues, and poor running game, and a lousy offensive line. It's not like he stunk up the joint with Peyton Manning throwing to him. Clemens is totally unproven and Pennington couldn't throw a football through a wet paper towel.
Coles is a leader on that team and the one constant on an otherwise anemic offense. They should resign him. He and Cotchery are a pretty good tandem. Bottom line is the Jets are cheap.

If they said they'd extend him and don't, it's a tough break. If they said they'd "take care of him," they have offered to guarantee his salary. That's a big deal.
