Impact won't be huge, and the paycheck won't be huge.
It would have the following subtle impacts:
- Give JC a big target aside from Cooley and Sellers in the RZ. We'd actually have a WR capable of running a fade, forcing DBs to respect that route in the red zone.
- Reduce the burden on ARE, allowing him to move to the slot more, hopefully allowing him to find more space to run after the catch.
- Give us the 3rd WR option that Lloyd was supposed to provide us.
- Assuming we keep Caldwell, would actually give us a 4-WR package that's worth a darn.
- Avoid the typical 3-year learning curve that comes with drafting a WR.
Johnson or Hackett would do similar things for us, with a better learning curve with Hackett.
