Cardinals | Team will honor Fitzgerald's contract
Sat, 23 Feb 2008 16:56:24 -0800
During an interview at the
NFL Scouting Combine,
Arizona Cardinals vice president of football operations
Rod Graves said he does not believe it was a mistake to structure WR
Larry Fitzgerald's contract the way they did. "There's not many of the players taken in the top three that actually go on to be two and three-time Pro Bowlers during their rookie contract. So Larry has earned the right to be where he is and I think the contract is a good one for us. It recognizes his accomplishments. It is what it is. He has earned the right to be where he is and we also determined that if we should be at this point, we'd be back at the bargaining table to work out a long-term deal that was a little more palatable for the organization." When asked if the team would swallow the contract if no extension could be worked out, Graves said: "Yes, we will."
just some WR news. stallworth is an interesting option, though he IS a tin can... fitz ain't happening, and williamson probably isn't worth bothering with.
