This reminds me of last year, before we drafted Landry, when everyone thought Pierson Prioleau was the answer at SS, and I think we all know how that would've turned out. I see the same thing with Doughty, he's a good backup nothing more. I do agree with you that O-line/D-line should be our top priorites this offseason, but after that I think we really need to look at the Safety/CB positions.
Yeah, but I think we should draft ol and dl in later rounds if Phillips falls to us magically like I think he is. Forget OL and DL in the first round. You know... 80 percent of the Hogs were undrafted? You can build an offensive and defensive line in 2 years with the later rounds of the draft. If Phillips is available, take him. It'd be almost too omniscent with the #21 pick. "PICK PHILLIPS" is coming from up above. Jesus Christ, they say Joe Jacoby is the best offensive lineman EVER to be signed as an undrafted rookie. Look at our de's. Andre Carter is a little better than mediocre. He had 10 or 10 1/2 sacks. He's getting better, and eventhough Philip Daniels is old, he is a good run stopper. I don't see anything but DEPTH that we need at those positions. OL is a different story. I see us using 2nd and 3rd for OL help. I think I make a valid point though. Unless you are ZERO at depth for a position, you don't draft for depth in the first round. lol... IMPACT players come with the first pick.

Basically.. I think....

#21 - Either (if either one is still available) Kenny Phillips, or Brandon Flowers.

Later rounds...
2nd-OL/OG
3rd-WR/CB
5th-P/K
6th-ol/og depth
7th-ol/og depth

CB-
CB is an issue, but like I said, with two blistering safeties, I think that would lighten coverages. You wont see many teams going deep as often with LL and KP back there. Either way, Phillips or Flowers are golden.

WR-
I think Anthony Mix is going to be our new Red Zone threat, so we REALLY DON'T need a WR in the draft. Period. We have WAY too much money tied up on Brandon Lloyd. Reche, Santana, Randle El, Mix. If he doesn't retire, Keenan for real vet leadership.

Linebackers....

H.B. Blades is good. Damn good. Give him time to develop. Whenever Rocky comes back, it won't be like he never left, it's going to take time for him to make his full recovery... (if it ever happens). Fletcher has 2 years left. We have decent players on the defensive side, but I agree we need a playmaker closer to the ball. Andre is good. Depth at isn't as crucial as all these other needs. You can go after DL in FA.
