Re: Who was the worst acquisition of the last 10 years?
I look at the worst acquisition as "could we have forseen the FUBAR coming". Lloyd has to be the worst using that criteria because we should've seen the train-wreck a mile away. If Wilbon was getting calls from collegues saying what a complete AH Lloyd was, then I'm sure Gibbs & the FO received the same calls. Not to mention Lloyd already had a rep for "making the spectacular catch but dropping easy ones". Gibbs or someone else in the FO should've overruled Saunders on Lloyd and said "No way!"
If you look at the others; Stubby & Deion had good past production and the hope was they had a little gas left in the tank. George was coming off a great 1999 season, we needed a back-up QB and I believe for the most part in 1999 George was a "team player" for MINN. Duckett had success as a bruising Goal-line back for ATL and Portis had just gotten hurt. Arch had success as a hard-hitting SS, he just couldn't play coverage and GW tried to fit "a round peg is a square hole" by putting him in the Cover-2.
